Taste Test: Itai Soffer and Elad Kirson combine forces to a bittersweet single ‘Ghosts’
“Ghosts” is a masterclass of collaboration
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Breakups are usually a very personal affair, but with “Ghosts”, Elad Kirson wanted to share his musical vision with other independent artists as part of his EOK Project. Lyrically written by Kirson, the melody and instrumentals were performed by Itai Soffer, creating a beautiful, bittersweet harmony of a song. Slow and stripped down initially, the song builds to a powerful climax that demands your attention. “This is me/this is us/the divide begins to swallow/Can you hear the fuss/It seems like I can’t follow” Soffer croons. Soffer is accompanied by bass, cello and percussion as soft as teardrops on a page. “Ghosts” combines the personal gut punch and emotion of losing someone you love with the amazing technical artistry of independent musicians and the results are nothing short of heartwrenching and memorable.
