Taste Test: Jacob Weil converses with songwriting itself with ‘It Couldn’t Wait’
Indie folk musician impresses with his new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Songs are like seeds. You plant them and often have to nurture them if you want them to sprout and blossom into full-bodied works of art. Indie-folk musician Jacob Weil imagines a conversation between songwriter and inspiration with his new song “It Couldn’t Wait,” a glistening toe-tapper and stunning showcase for both his vocals and storytelling. “I could hold you to your word / But I know you won’t always mean all that you say,” he sings. Such a personification of songcraft gives further weight to how hard it can really be to put pen to paper (and have it make sense).
“It Couldn’t Wait” kicks of f Weil’s debut EP, Feeling My Youth, out everywhere now.
