Taste Test: Jacqueline Tucci finally lets her ‘Fear’ subside
The indie-rocker inches closer to unlocking inner peace with her debut entry
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
You can only run for so long ⏤ before your fears, whatever they might be, clip you on your heels. Alt-rock singer-songwriter Jacqueline Tucci looks hers dead in the eyes with her lo-fi debut, “Fear,” appropriately feeding her fears to the flames of her heart. Guitars hiss and wiggle, emanating an enveloping steam, and Tucci’s voice rings as an alarm that casts the remains further in her rearview. “I breathed in the coldest air / To clear my head ’cause I was scared / That I don’t feel any fear these days,” she crows. In learning to love, something that is often truly terrifying, she regains her long-lost sense of self.
“Fear” anchors her forthcoming EP, Jungle Sounds, expected later this year.
