The soulful Americana artist sings bittersweet melodies
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Janelle Loes’ newest song is instantly and universally relatable. Her angelic voice is coated in memories, weaving in and out of delicate guitars and the grounding cello. “There are things I’ve seen and heard but so easily forget/the dates from history class/the face of someone I barely met/there are things I can’t remember anymore/and I’m afraid of becoming one of yours.” Loes has a captivating voice that entrances even the most hard-hearted of listeners. With every line, she conjures a sense of bittersweet nostalgia and loss. Loes’ Americana influence is palpable throughout, but this track is reminiscent of a modern folk song, telling a tale of memory and loss.
