Every bad time is marked with good. “Let’s hold the sunshine on my face tomorrow,” sings Jason Heeter. “The Light,” off his new EP Staring at the Sun, is a jovial, uplifting ditty dedicated to those dark moments that feel insurmountable. Piano bounces along, guitars and other instruments tripping behind. Heeter’s smoky tenor coasts across the melody, and it’s enough to warm up your eardrums. That’s the thing about his work; it’s infectious, offering hope and a brief reprieve from the world.
