What if our fondest memories are still yet to come? Americana singer-songwriter Jeremy Parsons stops for a moment to reflect on not only his life but those around him and much older than he. With “Good Ole Days,” inspired by an otherwise mundane trip to the hardware store, Parsons observes cherished memories but makes note that “looking forward is just as important,” as he tells it. The song swells with life’s tartness; looking back at one’s youth always heaves out a tremendous amount of sorrow and bliss, a dichotomy that aptly sums up human existence. We perhaps have plenty of regrets, and that’s okay, it makes the good all the more savory. “Man, I’m looking forward to looking back on things / I haven’t even gotten to my good ole days,” he sings. There’s a calmness to his storytelling. While it’s certainly laced with a palpable heaviness, it’s soothing nonetheless.
