Loneliness haunts Kacey Fifield. Ghosts bang their chains and leave a cold chill in the air. With “Left Behind,” the singer-songwriter laments being, well, left behind in life and with her friends. “I just feel like life is slipping / All my friends are slowly drifting,” she sings. A bittersweetness coats her tongue, as she finds herself resigning to cold, hard reality by the song’s end. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt any less. It stings her heart, yet she pushes ahead anyway. What else can she do?
