Memories are bizarre little things, aren’t they? They’re homemade movies that fade faster and faster as we get older. What were once rich, vibrant moments, later appear as ghosts in our heads. Sometimes, though, there are particular snapshots that never lose their color or intensity. Indie singer-songwriter Kane Miller steps back and takes stock of his life, namely his childhood and how quickly and severely it all slipped through his fingers. “Our clocks are tired and winding down,” he sighs. “Can’t we just stay kids somehow?” His lamentations carry a particularly grueling weight; and if you’ve entered even your 30s, you know what that means. Your childhood, one painted with late-nights catching fireflies or playing tag or going on your first date, appears ever-so fleeting. Time means everything and nothing. It’s constantly marching forward, and we’ll never be able to stop it.
