Love is love is love. But without a smorgasbord of exes, we could never possibly know what love really means. We play games with the devil, for better or worse, and are left tangoing with regrets. Electro-pop starlet Kayla Diamond hangs out all her dirty laundry, stained with late-nights, tear-streaked breakups and red wine, and she has no fucks left to give. “Next X” bumps up against another rendezvous, and she quickly begins to question everything about her perhaps not-so good life choices. “Am I looking at my next ex?” she spits over blistered hip-hop waves that thrash against her vocal cords. She gives up every part of herself, and it somehow leads to her even great catharsis. “Forget that I tried to love you,” she permits the words to spill from her tongue. The acid pours out and scorches the gravel at her feet. We bow down.
