Taste Test: Liam Mogan stages a welcome staycation with new video, ‘Burn at Home’

Staycations are sometimes the best vacations. There’s nothing like stealing away from the world, snuggling up with some Netflix, and doing little else. There’s comfort in the mundane, little things. Self-described surfing cowboy, Liam Mogan attests as much with his sunny, but cool-baked, new tune. “Burn at Home” falls sweetly on the eardrums, a smooth little ditty about cherishing things we so often take for granted. And the visual mines the closeness of friends and lovers; its simplicity is what is so magnetizing. “Dancing around on the living room floor / Get wild and move on the furniture,” he paints. “What we got right here is all that we’ll ever need.” Percussion trickles and tumbles beneath his vocal, and the groove instantly envelopes the listener. It’s the kind of song that’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, just compliment it.
