Taste Test: Lily Denning learns to love ‘Me, Myself & I’ above all else
The soul-pop newcomer takes an emotional turn with her second single.

We fail. We learn. We grow. The cycle will go on and on and on if we allow it to. Seeing clearly for, perhaps, the very first time, soul-pop upstart Lily Denning finds herself finally uncovering her self-worth trapped behind walls of static. A piano as her base, the startlingly penetrating vocalist ascends into the ether, and such a retaliatory motion unleashes a god-like wonder that then showers down with a throat-throbbing beat. “Me, Myself & I” ratchets up the bass, scratching at the earlobes, and her intimate confessions abruptly erupt into fierce declarations. “I don’t need a reason / It’s just become,” she sings. The pressure is mounting, and she knows it. But before it can all come crashing back down on her, she rips the plug from the wall and regains complete control. No one will drag her down ⏤ ever again.
“Me, Myself & I” serves as Denning’s second single, following her debut “armageddon” from earlier this year.
