Taste Test: Limón Limón hold onto bliss with new song, ‘Believing in Yesterday’
The future-pop pair hold the present close on a sultry new tune.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
There are some songs that evoke specific sensory images that are damn near suffocating. Futuristic indie-pop duo Limón Limón‘s “Believing in Yesterday” is creamy, perfectly-melted vanilla ice cream, topped with rainbow sprinkles, on a waffle cone; it’s sun-bathing on a Spongebob beach towel, the sea air tickling your skin; and it’s the last few days of summer when a particular intoxicating bliss kisses the air. “What happens after / Write a new chapter,” sings band member Jason (also guitar and bass). Alongside Rand (keys, synths, drums), the pair harvest a style that is equal parts timeless, throwback and glossed in contemporary brushstrokes. They cherish the past by gazing serenely into the future, a bit of nostalgia laced on the fringes.
“Believing in Yesterday” is lifted from the band’s debut EP, of the same name, out everywhere now.
