Taste Test: Little Bird display high style, buckets of blood in ‘Mega Hot Super Babe’ video
The indie-band uses horror imagery to recenter their latest song.

Outfitting slasher conventions and plush Giallo coloring, indie band Little Bird‘s “Mega Hot Super Babe” video is a horror fan’s greatest delight. Originally, the song centered around “the archetype of the untouchable woman,” the band shares in press materials. But the video re-contextualizes around the “common struggle that every woman we know has dealt with — by fantasizing an ideological solution.” Filmed on a micro-budget, the visual (directed by Dylan Dawkins and starring Rachel Burnette) is as lo-fi as they come, but that’s its charm. Great storytelling defies budget, and with careful attention to mood and wonderfully nauseating gore, “Mega Hot Super Babe” is like those banned video nasties of the 1980s. What a treat.
“Mega Hot Super Babe” samples the band’s new project, Proxima: Alpha, out everywhere now.
