Taste Test: Lo Lo feels ‘Dead Inside’
The pop starlet confronts her own journey through unimaginable darkness.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
If you’ve ever struggled with mental health, especially, you know what it feels like to be dead inside. You wander from one task to another, unaware of all pricks to your skin and psyche, and you’ll inevitably wake up (but the road is a long one). Lo Lo examines her own expedition through such murky, muddy, and numb mental waters. With “Dead Inside,” she wields her pen with a macabre sharpness, allowing herself to be as honest as possible, and therein comes the catharsis. She ultimately snaps out of it and realizes the beauty she’s long been missing in the world beneath her feet. “I was dead inside / Til you made me fee alive,” she conjures. For many, another’s tender touch reenergizes you; still others find solace in art, music, nature, and their own renewed self-worth.
“Dead Inside” samples a forthcoming new EP called Permanent Damage, set for release later this year.
