Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

We say the name Karen, and you immediately know the kind of person that is. In the age of social upheaval, they’re the ones calling the cops for literally no reason at all and probably screaming “All Lives Matter” when they don’t realize what that even means. Indie pop band Local Nomad takes to task every “Karen” of the world with a deceptively fluttering new song. “She calls me crazy / As we aruge late on life / Says I’m an idiot / And thinks that I should die,” reflects Michael Desmond. The accompanying visual, borrowing elements from The Beatles ’69 rooftop concert, fully leans into the satire of it all, depicting a band called The Karens with intercut mock testimonials. It’s the kind of timely humor we could all use after the cluster**** that was this year.
