Taste Test: Lola Blanc gets ‘Angry Too’ in moody new video
The alt-pop darling underscores the riot of women in a new visual.

Vipers lashed their acidic venom in the #MeToo movement. Many egomaniacs just haven’t been able to handle taking responsibility for their own toxicity, taught to them throughout their privileged lives. But now women have fought back to tell their stories. Named one of our favorite songs of 2019 (so far), Lola Blanc‘s “Angry Too” has risen as a warrior cry through the static, delivered in a provocative, potent and prickly vocal. “‘Cause another and another coming up out of the gutter / ‘Til I’m drowning in an ocean of entitled motherfuckers,” she laps up her own pain with a stunningly arsenic melody. In the visual, directed by the very talented Francesca Maldonado, the message slaps even harder and longer, and the viewer’s comfortability is stretched to the limits. But that’s the point. This conversation is uncomfortable and sheds away the numbness to make you feel exactly what women feel. “It’ll eat you like poison / If you knew what I knew,” she later hisses. Her spit runs hot and melts the skin clean off. Time to rise up.
