Crippled by heartbreak, we’re left to contend with the aftermath. Sometimes, it sits on your bedroom nightstand, or it’ll ooze from under your bed and haunt your dreams in the midnight hours. It’s never really over. After a stylistic shift and public rebranding, Danish singer, songwriter and musician Løv Li, who has worked a number of years as a ghost producer, sluggishly drags himself through candlelit chambers of the past. With “I Miss You,” he manages to not only shred his heart in two, but he offers a startlingly delicate pop piece. There’s something downright spooky about his performance: the strings jab into the brain stem, zapping you of all motor functions. Meanwhile, he slips in and out his falsetto as a shadowy figure haunting manor hallways and never letting you sleep stricken with fright. “What the hell am I doing this for / Lying here on my bedroom floor,” he sings.
“I Miss You” is his debut single under this particular moniker.
