Youth really is fleeting, and none of us appreciate it enough, at least when we’re in the heat of the moment. It’s often only when we look back do we gain a greater, deeper, richer appreciation for our younger days. Electro-pop singer-songwriter margø finds herself caught in an inescapable net of past reflection. And she’s not necessarily trapped; she’s simply engaging with nostalgia and coming to terms with even the bad friendships and relationships that further sculpted her identity in the present. With “Hazy,” she stumbles between rose-tinted memories and clattering production that really gives her vocal a soaring quality. “I don’t miss you,” she offers later in the song. She cherishes it all, from hot, sticky summer nights to the emotional scars, with a defiant, inviting charm.
