Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.
There is no better time to examine mental health than right now. While we have a long, winding road in spreading awareness on deeper levels, the conversation has certainly opened up in recent years. Folk singer-songwriter Michelle Mandico scrutinizes particular blind spots with her elegant and soothing song “Ptarmigan,” the title cut from her 2018 studio set. The visual, only now released, arrives when we’re all barely getting by, struggling to make sense of the world and pay our bills, and mental states teeter on the edge. She interprets the lyrics with frankness, actually stealing way to the highest peaks for nature to cleanse her body and her mind. The sweeping countryside envelopes her, and the listener might get a bit of peace, too.
