Carmen Phelan’s voice is like eggnog. It has a sweet frothiness to it that envelopes you and makes your heart swell with warmth. When it comes to “With You Around,” a bluesy confessional, Misty River ⏤ rounded out with Adam Morley (guitar), Jeremy Stacey (drums), Andy Wallace (hammond, banjo), and Jody Linscott (percussion) ⏤ cherish those people who can light up a room and cast all shadows into dusty oblivion. “I said too much tonight,” sings Phelan. “Let’s just stay here till dawn.” Hammond twinkles in the background, simply an accent to a stirring and sweeping production.
