Mo Kenney takes Daniel Romano’s “Hard on You” delicately into her hands. Keeping its innate warmth intact, the Dartmouth-based musician brandishes her purple-hued voice with unshakable command, allowing the listener to rediscover the song. “Trying to find the bright part of your story / But it leaves me with the feeling of defeat,” she sings, her voice falling like dew drops. As immense the sorrow is, pouring forth with stormy force, she simply lets it exist among petal-like acoustic guitar. Her heart has shattered beyond belief, and her searing confession finally lays it all to rest.
