Taste Test: Model Child burns the world down with ‘My Queer Teenage Anthem’
Trash-pop newcomer celebrates recklessness of youth with his new club banger.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
During the teenage years, you do stupid shit. You stay out way too late, drink a little too hard and waste youth with reckless abandon like the drink dripping ice down your arm. Trash-pop upstart Model Child scrounges such innocently naughty disturbances with his lip-smacking new ear worm, “My Queer Teenage Anthem,” a stylistic extension of his first single “Trash” from February. “All of my friends / And all of your friends / Should just party forever / Oh, whatever,” he snarls, his voice tearing into a strained, flushed and rave-fueled yowl. The strobe lights bounce around him with a diabolically-jovial glimmer, and even as the drums and synths scrape and pound against one another, mimicking the night’s quick devolution into a boozy euphoria, he remains the torch guiding our hands through a night of blissful mayhem.
Model Child is next eyeing a full EP of material, and we are living.
