Taste Test: Mothé wraps up the season with a dreamy pop single ‘Summer’s Almost Gone’
Up-and-coming non-binary artist Mothé (aka Spencer Fort) laments the passing of a season
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.
The weather is cooling down a little, the days are growing shorter and the end of summer approaches. As the season slows down, Mothé has managed to capture the feeling in their latest song “Summer’s Almost Gone”. The single starts out with an excited electric guitar and a peppy bass and drum rhythm. This is in contrast to the chorus, which leads into an ethereal mix of instruments and dreamy vocals, growing slower and slower as the song winds down. It perfectly captures the feeling of a season drawing to a close. “Oooo/the summer’s almost gone” Mothé laments in hypnotic tones. Summer is a beautiful season, and they manage to perfectly capture the range of emotions from sadness to joy in just under four minutes. “Summer’s Almost Gone” is definitely getting added to my summer playlist!
