Taste Test: Mt. Misery wonder why ‘The Dreaming Days Are Over’
The indie band offer up a soothing new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Indie band Mt. Misery have a way of sweeping you away. They can’t help it; such wistfulness is the core of who they are. Andrew Smith’s airy lead vocal entrances and washes over your body, and you quickly tumble down into the song’s softly glowing layers. Percussion dances across a sheet of a starry instrumentals that burrow into your scalp. It’s calming effects could not be more vital to life these days. “I can’t believe the words I’m hearing / Seasons turn, I can’t decipher the meaning,” he calls you in. And you stay as long as you’re willing.
“The Dreaming Days Are Over” samples the band’s new album, tentatively expected this fall.
