Musician Jack Olchawski, known professionally as My Crooked Teeth, has a way of crafting his work in such a way you can’t possibly look away. In the vein of his hero and musician John K Samson, Olchawski shoots the lyrics of his new song through the tangible ⏤ as in employing inanimate objects, otherwise unremarkable, to tell a story. With “Something Decent,” Olchawski desires the listener to find renewed self-worth in the world around them. “If I’m made of steel or dust / Or blown to smithereens / Sweep me up and be sure / To make something from me,” he sings. Those remnants, he promises, could be what turns it all around.
