Taste Test: Naipia soldier through bad habits on new song, ‘Another’
The indie-rock band explore various numbing agents on a new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Enduring various pains in this life, we have a tendency to seek out numbing agents to escape. Our attempts to flee from traumas or present troubles only send us further away from discovering who we’re meant to be. Indie-rock three-piece called Naipia hit rock bottom, creeping through the black nothingness and the mud therein, and eventually climb back out of the earth’s core. With “Another,” the band navigates life’s cyclical nature and poor habits that constantly drag their bodies back down into the cold, desolate abyss. “Another drink, another smoke…” lurches from frontman George’s throat, strained and communicating the dire state of things. But in his momentous confessions, turning to a support system for help, assisted with bandmates Harry and Matt, he ultimately confronts the man in the mirror to endure another day. And that day might be his liberation yet.
