Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

When you’re young, the heart will do some wild things. And you can never stop it. It’s a steam locomotive barreling down the tracks, and no manner of standing in its way will deter it from crashing right into you. Indie-pop upstart Nic Howell exposes a love triangle in which he is helplessly entangled. “Don’t” glistens in the sweltering summer sun, and he simply basks in sharp, relentless rays. “It’s not your fault you don’t compare / You just don’t look as good as me in underwear,” he spits to his new girl’s on-again, off-again boyfriend. He blurs the lines, musically and thematically, and the listener can’t help but get lost in an unexpectedly thrilling ride. He’s young and in love (or so he thinks) and willing to do whatever it takes.
