Taste Test: Paper Lions just ‘Don’t Feel Like That’ these days

The immediate aftermath of a breakup, you can often already feel the sting swelling and rippling outward through your body. Your bones ache, and you might even gasp for breath. Yet sometimes, you look back upon the past with a tinge of nostalgia flushing your cheeks. Pop-rock four-piece Paper Lions don a pair of rose-tinted glasses with their latest cut, “Don’t Feel Like That,” but not as a way to drown out the truth. No, they simply gaze over their shoulders and let whatever images come to tingle the senses. “…on another day, when I was yours / But I don’t feel like that no more,” they rally together, emotions running high. But they’re not angry or upset or even deflated by it. They simply are.
“Don’t Feel Like That” samples the band’s new album, Stay Together, out everywhere October 18.
