The Singles Bar: Parker Woodland references such popular horror as ‘Cabin in the Woods’ & ’28 Days Later’ in new song
The pop-punk band’s new song is a horror fans’ delight.
Welcome to The Singles Bar, a review series focused on new single and song releases.
Parker Woodland are horror fiends at heart. With their bone-rattling new tune, “Just in Case,” the three-piece draws parallels between falling in love and the apocalypse – all while making several references to popular horror films. From Cabin in the Woods to Night of the Comet and 28 Days Later, the pop-punk outfit bathes the listener in furiously thrashing guitars and percussion. The images rise like ocean tides that nearly swallow them whole. Blood pumps in their veins, spurting out of their bodies much like the thunderous cracks of instruments buried in the mix. It’s a little bit spacey and a whole lot horrifying – if that’s your sort of punkish delight.
