Taste Test: Parlour Magic zooms through space and time with ‘Moonstone’
The new synth-pop creator gazes into the future.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Parlour Magic envisions the future as a barren wasteland, ever at the mercy of the cosmos and crashing celestial bodies. “A thousand years from now / The sun is gonna set on the desert in the west,” cries Luc Bokor-Smith, the mastermind behind the new synth-pop pursuit. “Underneath the sands / The wind is crying out like a memory from your past.” Bokor-Smith’s voice erupts volcanic ash out of a living, breathing soundscape; it’s pristine coating operates to bedevil the senses, luring you into their dense lyrical sphere.
“Moonstone” kicks off Parlour Magic’s new EP, The Fluid Neon Origami Trick, out everywhere now.
