Taste Test: Pink Roses stick to ‘Dreamin” big
The electro-pop upstarts reignite their dreams on a new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
An ever-shifting industry makes it hard to keep sights locked. You can fold ’em or show your whole hand. Electro-pop duo Pink Roses ⏤ of Dave Fontenot and Nate Tepper, two former Silicone Valley tech entrepreneurs, who cashed everything in for daring musical pursuits ⏤ manifest their cotton-candy dreams into a lush, smooth-tasting new song. With “Dreamin’,” rich with sugary textures, the pair propose reigniting that deep craving and following the heart’s one true path. “I’m still dreaming,” they sing in unison. Such simplicity marks the message with a wider net, drawing the listener in to fill between the blanks and insert their own seemingly impossible aspirations. If that doesn’t light that fire again, nothing will.
