Society has always had a problem with sadness. We’re taught from a very young age not to cry or even address darkness and depression. What’s resulted is an entire generation trapped in a mental hellscape. Indie pop singer-songwriter PRIMME confronts his long-harbored depression with his new song “Sadboi,” quite a hefty piece of lyricism. He tangles gooey production drips and rhythmic percussion to underscore the ongoing battle ragging deep within him. “I’m a sadboi in my mind,” he crows. His downcast gaze slowly turns heavenward as he reclaims his strength and chooses to finally address overwhelming sadness.
