The Singles Bar: Rapt points to the ‘North Star’ for just a minute
The folk musician bottles up a moment in time.
Our lives are littered with brief encounters. The people we meet while standing in line at the corner market, walking our Jack Russell terrier at the dog park, and waiting for the bus come into and out of our orbit in a matter of minutes, maybe even hours. As quickly as they appeared, they fade into the distance. With his new song “North Star,” folk artist Rapt captures an unexpected blink-of-an-eye meeting he had at a London train station in a meager 68 seconds. “You stopped me from thinking it through, with two heads on my shoulders I cooed,” he sighs through flecks of acoustic guitar. That quick flash of connection matches the somber feeling of the song, as we are truly just particles floating in space, looking for something, anything to make us feel.
“North Star” serves as part of Rapt’s ongoing Not All Is Dark/All Is Never Lost single series.
