Life is like boarding a steaming locomotive bound for endless adventure. We clutch our carry on closer to our chest, gladly take our window seat, and settle in for what’s to come. Blues singer Ren Geisick does as much with her new song called “Last Train Home,” a glorious traveling tune that weaves from one promising ingenue’s hopeful westward dreams to the death bed. Through each verse, there is a glorious, infectious kind of thrill in not only the front porch-plucked spirit but Geisick’s electric vocal. “When I am old / And near my grave / I’ll be so happy / But not so brave,” she sings with a smile on her lips. Despite an unexpectedly bumpy ride, her journey (so far) has been more than worth it.
