Sam Quealy‘s “By My Side” is like stepping into a rotating mirrorball. The groove runs seductive and wild, with a luminescent flare igniting from the inside. “I don’t care what we do,” sings Quealy. Collaborator Marlon Magnée responds, “Please, please, tell me, ‘I love you.'” Their voices stick together, two elastic neons glued to one another. Electric guitars shimmer around them, highlighting the disco-drenched aesthetic. It might be January, but it’ll get you hot.
