Eight years might as well be an eternity in the music business. But God bless electro-pop producer SebastiAn‘s long-awaited return that’s nothing short of truly epic. “Run for Me” crawls into the space between your years, filling your entire body with glorious euphoria, and the release is more than worth it. Synths drift as a boat tossed upon a deep, blue, forlorn sea, and his emotions blow a gasket before you even know what’s happened. “Just take one last good look in the dark,” collaborator Gallant wails and writhes in a downward spiral that inevitably runs out of steam. Piano keys trickle and plop amidst a devilish hail storm that looks to completely uproot two young lives. In the music video, directed by Todd Tourso, two lovers are caught on the run and meet a gruesomely jarring end. No spoilers, but it’s an evocatively profound piece on the fleeting nature of this so called life.
“Run for Me” anchors SebastiAn’s new album, expected this fall on Ed Banger Records / Because Music.
