Whatever our journey may be, it’s much the same from person to person. We all must weather rainstorms to break into the sunshine. Folk-rock singer-songwriter Simon Alexander muses on his transitory state with a song called “Rain,” which begins as a sobering, plaintive tune before cracking as thunder into an arena anthem. “We’re holding onto something less defined,” he sings. Those stages of life, when we find ourselves standing in the pouring rain, are not what define our lives, but rather, it’s our reactions to it. Here, he lets it wash over his skin ⏤ troubles and worries dissolving, too.
“Rain” bookends Alexander’s new EP, In the Rust, out everywhere now.
