Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

A bed of snakes wriggle around his feet, and a cloud of industrial darkness seeps into his pores and overwhelms each of his senses. Skauss is a bedazzler of playfully sinister proportions, and while little is known online of this shrouded mystery man, he exposes a hyper-electrifying vulnerability that throbs mercilessly from each of his nerve endings, particularly on his song “Father.” A metallic slice of dark-pop, hinged upon dissolving variants of percussion and an eerie pop-up of gospel, the song adheres to the visceral gloom of Marilyn Manson while delivering something far more palatable, yet irresistibly slimy and towering. “Father, tell me why did you bother,” his voice slips in and out of consciousness, heart heavy and mind caked in world-weary nonsense.

“Father” is a succulent apricot from Skauss’ debut LP, Whoami, out everywhere now.
