Healing is ever at the mercy of time’s sweet hand. And patience is the only way to deal. Country singer-songwriter Sofia Boyden finds herself stepping gracefully into a soft, golden light and finally turning the page on her past life. With “You Ain’t Him,” Boyden situates former heartbreak as a storm cloud following her every footstep and casting a shadow on her current relationship. “You ain’t saying you don’t care no more,” she sings. She allows the the images in her rearview to finally catch fire and turn to ash; she’s not bitter, only cherishing the sweet life lessons she has since been granted. Boyden’s vocals are as nectar, perfectly rich and tangy, and her storybook is a simple one but filled with universal truths.
“You Ain’t Him” is lifted from Boyden’s new three-song self-titled EP, out everywhere now.
