Review: SOZI replays summer vibes on her ‘Dream’ EP
The pop artist flexes her creative wings and soars.
SOZI is a pop firebrand. When you hear her latest EP, Dream, the second set of her seasons collection, you’ll fall into a dreamy wonderland. Synthy colors collide into one another like orbs in the universe. Her siren-like voice beckons you from across time and space, and you get lost in a hypnotic haze and clouds of musical smoke. The artist takes a cannonball plunge, leaving waves and ripples behind. It might officially be fall, but Dream will have you replaying a sizzle reel of the summer’s best moments.
Real name Sofia Zorian, SOZI proves her worth in the producer’s chair, spinning pop confectionery with the best of them. While opener “Superstar” borrows an underlining of disco magic, “Good Girl” (complete with the clink of champagne glasses) pulses with the thrill of an unexpected midnight reverie. SOZI pushes the brakes for the bookender, “Lost in You,” for a much moodier moment.
The Dream EP shows an artist already in her element. From the flutter of her vocals to the atmospheric production, SOZI flexes her creative wings and soars. With several TV syncs under her belt (Temptation Island, Love is Blind), she’s on her way to becoming the next IT pop girlie.
