Taste Test: spill tab throws in the towel with ‘Name’
The rising pop star tosses in the towel on a relationship.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Most romances go through a stage of giving one another sickeningly cutesy nicknames like boo. And when it all unravels, and it usually always does, you have to discard it for the person’s real name. Rising indie popstar spill tab utilizes nickname-giving as the foundation to her song “Name,” an electrifying entry in her growing catalog. “Maybe I should stay out / Try and clear my headspace, no doubt,” she pops open the first verse. In finally swapping back to first-name basis, the singer-songwriter throws in the towel on the relationship ⏤ a necessary act as much as it is one of sheer defiance.
“Name” bookends her debut EP, Oatmilk, out everywhere now.
