As much clarity that comes with 20/20 vision in any context, there’s just as much anguish. We wish things could have been different while the iron was hot, but alas, we are creatures pushing against the hands of time. Indie-folk singer-songwriter Stephen Artemis Jr. takes a pass in excavating the wreckage of a once-blossoming romance. Only dried petals remain, skeletons beckoned to the four winds and never to be seen again. “I Miss You” jangles with a lonesome and heart-sore kind of energy, as he turns over his body’s remnants in his hands to glue them back together again. “The only way is to give it time,” he reminds himself. But time can be merciless, and so, he scavenges for any sort of solace in the mud – for better or for worse.
“I Miss You” is the latest in an impressive string of singles, including “Cold Rain and Snow,” which we named on of the Best Songs of 2019.
