As Kenny Rogers once sang, “You’ve got to know when to hold ’em / Know when to fold ’em.” Indie-folk singer-songwriter Stephen Artemis Jr. fully embraces this gamblin’ idealogy with his song “Let’s Roll,” as he finally admits there’s “nothing worth saving” before he hits the dusty trail. Guitars weep in summertime blankets of rain around him, and he lets all his frustration rip out of his lungs. “Come on, let’s roll!” he howls. He whips out his trusty harmonica to give him ample companionship, and the road ahead appears as a barren one, yet full of promise. Sometimes, you just have to know when to accept things and move on.
“Let’s Roll” kicks off his brand new record, Northern Outpost Wildflower, out everywhere now.
