Taste Test: Stevie Wolf feels just like a ‘Paper Maché Doll’
The singer-songwriter struggles to break free from his unruly mental anxieties.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
We all want to be more but often find ourselves trapped by our own anxieties. We trudge through the mud and the muck, mental decay nearly all-consuming in nature, and sometimes, we just need to wallow in it for a second. Singer-songwriter Stevie Wolf does as much with his song “Paper Maché Doll,” in which he admits to his shortcomings and simply allows whatever to be to be. In his mind, though, it’s a smoking firestorm, snarling flames scorching everything they touch, and he can only writhe and thrash. “I want to be so much more than my body and my acne scars,” he howls. His pain hangs thick on this tongue, hitting the eardrums, and sliding into the brain.
“Paper Maché Doll” is lifted from this just-released new EP, Chapped Lips, out everywhere now.
