Everyone feels like the outsider at times, and Sylvia Aimee is no stranger to the sensation. “Friends” sets the scene of a party, full of possible relationships and friendships and yet not being able to connect with any of them. With the classic Nashville sound, this new track is a spin on the classic relationship breakup song – instead of mourning a lover, Aimee mourns the people she never got to know. “I’m drinkin’ with the ghost of jealousy/I’m drowning in thoughts of what could have been” she confesses. “Friends” features an amazing instrumental lineup, with a catchy electric guitar, acoustic, and a solid drumbeat, and of course, Aimee’s beautifully expressive vocals. With a raw but catchy chorus and emotionally heartrending lyrics, Aimee has created a plaintive cry for connection disguised as a beautiful country single.
