The more we talk about feelings of anxiety and isolation, the less power they have. Of course, they don’t completely disolve like sugar in water, but it is renewed strength that sprouts in their place. Folk musician Jonas Friddle remarks on his own weathered state with his deceptively plucky new tune. “I have been under the weather,” he sings. He pulls you into his head space, depcting the downpower but more importantly the sun beginning to peek throught the rain clouds. “I don’t mind biding time for the storm to pass / Counting seconds from the last till the thunder claps,” he observes. It’s not only a slice of hope but it aptly describes the entire world’s ongoing and agonizing position this year.
