The Americana artist with a bittersweet Tennessee tale.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
Everyone has a tale of the one that got away, but Henry Conlon has a song. The Nashville musician departs from his usual melancholic tones to sing the story of Lucy, who has one more night before she starts her journey with a rock and roll band. Unfortunately, Lucy has become jaded and cynical about the prospect of love. The heartbreak cracks through Conlon’s crooning voice “Lucy let me love you tonight/just stay until the morning comes”. The chorus is framed by beautiful vocal harmonies, a wailing guitar, and a warm range of instruments from piano to bass. The richness leaves “Lucy” feeling cheerful despite the bittersweet lyrics. Altogether, Conlon’s latest hit is a full and melodic delight to listen to, that will leave you tapping along with the rhythm.
