Acoustic settings are the perfect vehicles to see if songs hold up all on their own. With her new All I Have (Acoustic Sessions) EP, rising singer-songwriter Terra Renae weaves mellow compositions that go down smooth. With an acoustic guitar and flowing strings behind her, she picks apart three fan favorites from her debut album of the same name. She shreds songs into ribbons before rearranging them and twisting them back together again. Her voice adeptly glides across homespun arrangements, not unlike an ice skater doing tricks at a skating rink.

“Lights Down Low” is like the nightcap you gulp before sliding into bed. It’s a creamy elixir that makes for the perfect EP opener, setting the stage for sterling performances and rose-tinted finger pickin’. Where “Over and Over Again” brings the heat, “Party in the Sunshine” invites the listener down to the beach for a rollick in the waves. The three-piece could have used a bit more tempo and varied flavors, but Renae’s offering, out now, more than displays her range and delicate vocal layers.

Terra Renae’s All I Have (Acoustic Sessions) EP just might make you a fan, making for a solid companion to her debut full-length.
