One of the year’s brightest newcomers, mood-pop duo The Bergamot lean into the somber, plaintive, crushing feelings with their new song. “Remember This December” is weighted with a muted emotional barbell, yet there’s a hopeful sparkling in singer Nathaniel Hoff’s lead vocal, paired softly with Jillian Speece’s velvet backing harmony. “It’s Christmas time again / And I’m broke and so in love,” they sing.
