You don’t know what you have until it has slipped from your grasp like sands in the hour glass. The salacious and soapy daytime melodrama Days of Our Lives was and is on to something. Time is merciless, yanking you by the throat and dragging you along in the dirt. Blog favorite and Brooklyn-based folk-rock duo The Bergamot are crushed by such a relentless pendulum, which swings and slices right through their lives. “Young Again” brims with the downpour of sorrow, and their voices tangle into one another. “Now that I’m older, I want to be young again,” they sing. The framework is melancholic and pierced through the eyes of youth that always want to be a couple leaps ahead. Nathaniel Hoff and Jillian Speece shuffle their feet on stale concrete, angsty and uncertain. But they blink away the teardrops and forge ahead into another dawn that’ll come whether they want it to or not.
“Young Again” samples the duo’s brand new album, Mayflies, out everywhere now.
